Mario returns
Nintendo today announced a brand new adventure in the Super Marios series. The first game entitled Super Mario Bros was unveiled back in 1985 and was one of the first side-scrolling platform games of its kind. Since then Mario has become a cult figure in gaming.
New Super Mario Bros will be produced for the Nintendo DS and is expected in Europe early summer. The game will be a brand new adventure, where the camp plumber will travel across Mushroom Kingdom in an attempt to rescue Princess Peach from the unscrupulous Bowser and his allies.
The title will feature huge 2D worlds, each having its own theme. You'll once again need to beat the boss character at the end of each level in order to progress. There has also been a few tweaks to the controls, Mario will now have three new jumps in his repertiore:
Reach high ledges with a triple jump
Bounce of the heads of enemies
Wall Bounce
Nintendo also promise new power-ups,'including a mushroom that makes the player as big as the screen and one that can shrink them to the size of a mouse!
Thanks to the DS's multiplayer function, players will be able to enjoy the fun with up to four friends. You can't go too far wrong with a Mario game!
The retail price is estimated to be £30.
