Technical specifications and features
The 7280 features tri-band support in its diminutive dimensions of 115mm x 32mm x 19mm, along with its very favourable 84g weight. The design of the handset is very striking to say the least and the biggest surprise when you see it is the lack of numerical keypad, but along side the clever NaviPad™ system on the front of the phone is a voice-activated navigation system.
The slider on the phone increases its functionality beyond use of the camera, with the ability to take and end calls by opening and closing the device.
The screen on the 7280 is in a widescreen format of 208 x 104 pixels and is surprisingly clear given that it’s hidden behind a mirror, although it does feature a disappointingly low 65,536 colours.
Whilst the phone itself has HSCSD, EGPRS and GPRS connectivity, the screen is just too small to use this effectively, and it’s even more of a let down considering there is in fact XHTML browser support built in.
People may struggle to use the 7280 to its full potential with the lack of a decent screen, and the cumbersome entry of telephone numbers, which is where the built in BlueTooth™ connectivity really does come in to its own.
Whilst the 7280 does pack a lot of features into its small dimensions, the battery, as previously mentioned, is a ‘Nokia authorised agent’ only affair. On the upside, it does have a very good battery life expectancy and, not least due to the small screen, the 7280 is estimated to provide up to 3hrs of talk time or alternatively a respectable 10 days standby.
