MMGear Headphones

We were supplied with a pair of MMGear MCH-MMS100-B surround sound headphones to evaluate and our main objective was to determine their effectiveness at playing computer games. But before commenting on their performance lets take a moment to explain their specifications.

The headphones are supplied in some very impressive packaging. When displayed in a shop you would instantly assume the product to be of the highest quality.

Once open the package contains:

One set of headphones
Manual
Microphone attachment
Phono jack converter

In a separate box a small amplifier was supplied with cables and it's own power supply. This unit enables the headphones to be used with a home theatre sound system or dedicated games machine.

The headphones are constructed of high quality plastic material with cushioned ear covers. Unlike normal headphones the ear covers are wider to accommodate the pair of speakers per ear.

The length of the head band can be adjusted to one of two settings at each side. This means that four different lengths can be achieved.

At the end of the headphone cable is the first clue to their surround sound capability, with a pair of stereo 3.5mm jack plugs. These plugs are colour coded with one in dark and one in light grey.

Technically the headphones contain four electro dynamic, round type, micro speakers. These have a frequency response of 150Hz ~ 20kHz. The maximum power output is 80mW or 20mW per speaker.
