It has been recognised by the main console peripheral suppliers that gamers will pay for speakers that sound better than the old 14” portable TV in their rooms. Logic 3, 4Gamers and even Creative Labs have thrown speaker setups at the current crop of consoles, and all but the latter have sold pretty well with a careful blend of affordable (if mediocre) products.

Altec Lansing have a history for producing high-quality speakers. My first set of powered speakers were Altec, and mighty fine they were too. I was pleased when I was given the opportunity to review the flagship model of their new range, and within a couple of days, a big box had arrived. Make that a REALLY big box:
