New LCD HDTVs
The first big unveiling at the event was the new Samsung HDTVs with the new ‘Touch Of Colour’ styling. Now, not to be too down on Samsung and with the knowledge that I need to get a closer look at these TVs, I think the smattering of applause the unveiling received pretty much sums up the ‘Touch of Colour’ concept… perhaps proving that you can’t redesign the wheel or build a better mousetrap.A cool feature of the series 6 and 7 LCD HDTVs is the connectivity which, on the series 7, includes an Ethernet port for IP content which, in a partnership with USA Today will see customisable news and weather reports with plenty more on the way. The series 7 also features a USB port with built in support for all the main media formats (MPEG, MP3 etc).
Also on the way is an add-on adapter to connect your PC to the series 7, which will allow you to stream media from there too… so it’s an add-on media extender in effect.
Check out this Press Release for all the details.
Taking the connectivity concept into other areas of the home and then the office, Samsung has been collaborating with other companies both on the software and hardware front to produce these products.
