Imagini celebrates 1.2 million completed profiles as VisualDNA™ becomes hot property

Picture-based social networking site connects people with common interests and styles

Over one million people have now created a personal profile using Imagini, the new social networking site that uses a person's choice of images to uncover their true character. Using the premise that a picture paints a thousand words, visitors to Imagini can take a simple test that sees them select images that best portray their attitude to things like art, landscapes, holidays, music and love. Effectively, the set of images chosen creates a short story about each person that can then be shared with others.

People from more than fifty countries have now used Imagini's visually inspiring questionnaire to create a personal profile of their moods and habits or their attitude to fun, love and vice. Once they have built their profile, they can use the site to contact other users who have a similar attitude to life.

Launched just over three months ago, the British-based site uses images chosen by a team of psychologists and creative designers, with the aim of enabling visitors to discover their 'VisualDNA'. More than 5,000 blogs now exist on the web about Imagini, many of them containing a personalised widget that showcases the writer's VisualDNA.

Imagini founder Alex Willcock says; "We've been thrilled by the response we've had from the online community. People seem to love the fact that there's something out there to help them capture and validate their individuality. The feedback we're getting is incredibly encouraging and this is only just the beginning…we've got loads of great projects in the pipeline and think the potential is enormous."

The Imagini profiles are unique in the social networking world because they are based on an immediate emotional response to questions. This intuitive reaction, captured by using pictures instead of words, removes any 'processed response', programmed into each of us through schooling, media influences and social groups.

The resulting profile is broken down into clustered groups, and delivered in an easy to read report – which can also be downloaded as a 'widget' and pasted on a blog or myspace profile.

Willcock continues, "Ultimately, we'd like to see Imagini used by people as a way to make the Internet more relevant to them. Once a personal profile is created, people can use the power of the network to find everything from soul mates to sofas, perfectly tailored to their individual personality. It may be an old concept, but a picture really does say a thousand words so choosing a collection of images about your life soon creates a whole novel"

Although fully-functional, the Imagini website (http://www.imagini.net) is still in its Beta testing phase. An official launch is planned for later in the year.
