The System 8 THX Ultra 2, pictured below, arrives as the successor to the erstwhile Theatre 8 and aims to offer THX Ultra2-certified sound in a smaller package.
The 5.1 solution consists of a S 8000 SW subwoofer that's now two thirds smaller and equipped with an extra-long stroke driver that'll guarantee 500W of performance. That's joined by smaller S 800 FCR front speakers and S 800 D rear speakers.
All five speakers have undergone Klippel optimisation, and Teufel promises "absolutely no phase distortion or foggy play" and "an unbeatable dipole ambience unrivalled in THX Ultra 2 systems".
Teufel demoed System 8 using scenes from Iron Man and The Dark Knight, and the impact is enough to make the average listener jump out of his/her skin.
There's no word on pricing just yet, but we expect to see the System 8 THX Ultra 2 available later this month.
