Vista's coming; make hay while the sun shines

Vista - the new, highly-media-capable version of Windows - is expected to be launched in less than a year

The Vista version of Windows is likely to include improved fast-booting that won't contravene InterVideo's patents. So, InterVideo has a relatively small amount of time in which to continue milking its patent. All new Windows PCs sold directly after Vista's launch won't, of course, be running the new OS but the shift from XP to Vista - especially on consumer PCs intended for multimedia use - won't take long.

Check out InterVideo's release about its USITC complaint (slightly edited by us for easier reading, but no more informative for that) and to better understand the powers and duties of the USITC, check out this surprisingly succinct official backgrounder to Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930.
