Communication

Do you think it's possible that people could become members, and hence start paying membership fees, without realising it?

As detailed above we require consumers to finish 4 affirmative actions to join the Shopper Discounts & Rewards programme, immediately on joining they will see a confirmation page, and are then sent 7 emails in the first 30 days confirming membership and detailing the benefits.  Should either the ‘join' email (sent within 10 minutes after joining) or the day 16 email bounce, we send an offline letter to the member.  If either of these letters are returned as undeliverable - we automatically cancel the customer's membership in the programme.

At Webloyalty we make every effort to be straightforward with our offers, allowing consumers to make educated choices regarding their decision to join the Shopper Discounts & Rewards membership programme. For this reason, Webloyalty puts the most significant details of its offers in a prominent location - the first paragraph and immediately next to the acceptance (‘Yes') button - and repeats them in multiple other locations on the offer page. Furthermore, Webloyalty continues to communicate the offer terms to the member after the enrolment process and before they incur billing.

Webloyalty understands that some consumers, regardless of the abundance of clear and conspicuous disclosures, may still complain that they were unaware (or perhaps subsequently forgot) that they had enrolled in a membership programme.  To that end, Webloyalty publicises its cancellation policy including, among other places, on its enrolment page and in communications with consumers (both pre-bill and post-bill).

Can you give us a list of companies that offer membership to Shopper Discounts and Rewards?

We work with over 200 travel and retail sites in the UK, US & France. Along with many other organisations Webloyalty does not publicly disclose which clients we work with for competitive reasons.
