30th September, London, UK: Deezer, one of the world’s leading music streaming companies, has today announced the appointment of Sulinna Ong as its Vice President of Artist Marketing. Ong brings 15 years’ experience of pioneering global marketing strategies in the music industry, as well as directly managing major artists; coupled with roles marketing leading edge software, AI and robotics products.
Reporting directly to Deezer’s Chief Content & Product Officer, Alexander Holland, this newly created role based out of London forms an integral part of Deezer’s international expansion plans, with Ong responsible for leading Deezer’s global artist marketing team and for setting the overall strategy.
Holland commented on the appointment: “We are extremely excited to have Sulinna joining Deezer at this key stage of the company’s development. She combined both highly creative and business-oriented approaches with a deep understanding of the intersection of music and technology. Sulinna has a proven track record in building cross-functional teams and industry relationships, and we’re fortunate to have her at Deezer.”
Following her studies in music at Western Sydney University, Ong joined Sony to work on the world’s first consumer robot product, AIBO. She later moved to London where she joined SonyBMG as International Marketing Manager, Artist Development, winning the Music Week Best International Marketing Campaign for Il Divo. After a stint on Kasabian’s management team she moved to Live Nation Artists as Director of International Marketing & Artist Development, and then on to become CMO of award-winning music video app Youdio.
