Benchmarks: Gaming
The Aurora R5 is available with a choice of AMD Radeon or Nvidia GeForce graphics cards, and it's the GTX 1070 we reckon is the choice for balancing price and performance. A single 8GB card delivers gets close to a score of 14,000 in 3DMark Fire Strike, intimating some serious gameplay potential.
We've run all the other relevant Futuremark tests and, though the GTX 1070 Founders Edition falls just short of passing the Time Spy Stress Test, it scores favourably in VRMark Orange Room, hinting at suitability for VR headsets such as the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
Performance in real-world games is of more importance and the Aurora R5 continues to do well. The GTX 1070 makes light work of modern games at a 1080p resolution and it continues to perform admirably with the pixel-count increased to 2,560x1,440. Lush 4K gaming presents more of a challenge, but the optimal configuration is clear to see: pair this PC to a QHD display with G-Sync technology and the visuals will be both dazzling and silky-smooth.
