External appearance

The familiar look of a SilverStone Technology TJ-07 tower chassis. You can choose one of four colours at the time of purchase - Agent Black (as above), Blood Red, Rosewell Pearl or Bruised Pink.

Each chassis is hand-painted by Ultraviolet and has between six and eight coats of automotive paint and lacquer. The finish is hard to photograph but does appear to be of a high standard when viewed from close quarters.

A flip-down cover reveals four front-positioned USB2.0 ports, headphone and mic sockets and a single FireWire400 port.

The Genesis XOC is pre-fitted with an Alphacool 240 x 128 LCD panel that takes up a couple of 5.25in bays and hooks up to the system via USB. It looks good but when the chassis is positioned alongside or under a desk, we're not sure just how useful it will be - would you crane your neck just to see how much RAM you're currently using?

Ultraviolet lists a 5.25in-mounted multicard reader as a £9.40 option. It makes sense to add a tenner to the cost and have it fitted to the chassis.

The Creative soundcard is sandwiched between two liquid-cooled eVGA GeForce 8800 Ultras. System power is provided by a 1kW NorthQ Giant Reactor PSU, situated right at the bottom. It's a reasonable power supply but not quite in the same class as, say, the latest Enermax or Cooler Master PSUs.

The two fans you see in the above picture are both intakes, blowing cooler air over the CPU area.

The Genesis XOC has a laser-etched Perspex panel, to give you a peek inside. It's ironic that the UV logo blots out most of the hardware, though.
