Graphical Tests

Bear in mind the AG8 and the FX-51 system are using 6800 GT, compared to the GMA900 on-board core that the SB81P is using.

3DMark 2001SE

3DMark 2001SE

There was a time when I preached that a 3DMark 2001SE score over 6000 was indicative of decent DX8 gaming performance. I guess that still applies. That you need a $1000 processor for that level of performance is something else though, since the GMA900 core's performance is CPU bound to some extent. It'll play a decent game of UT2003 with a 2.8GHz LGA775 Prescott, put it that way, just don't expect visual miracles.

The 3.4 Extreme Edition does a lot for performance here, helping the GMA900 dig out decent DX9 level performance in everyone's favourite synthetic.

Painkiller

Painkiller

Just to highlight that it's not all sweetness and light in the world of 3D gaming on GMA900, Painkiller refused to run no matter what settings were chosen. It's not a gaming panacea by any means. Passable is the GMA900 buzzword, usable comes some way behind.
