Physical musings II

The MESH's interior is neatly finished, with cables carefully tied out the way and routed sensibly. There are no spare SATA power connections, despite the trio of free 3.5in bays. But three molexes have been routed to the hard disk cage ready for use, so you would either have to use drives with molex as well as SATA power connectivity, or supply your own adapters.

The chassis sports 120mm fans front and back. The front one was a little noisy and not hooked up to monitored power header. The PSU fan is not monitored by the Asus Probe II software either. However, we found the MESH's ventilation was excellent, with the CPU idling at just 24C and only rising to 36C under load, although this was in a relatively chilly ambient temperature of 16C.

That lovely-looking monitor from Sony.

The BIOS didn't appear to have been set up entirely correctly. The execute disable function of CPU had not been enabled, and the Northbridge and Southbridge HyperTransport speed was set to 800MHz instead of 1GHz.
