High-resolution gaming results

Gaming performance evaluation was carried out at 1920x1200 with full eye candy. These £2.5-3K machines are designed to offer the ultimate gaming experience, so a WUXGA resolution, present on a range of 24-inch widescreen monitors, is apt.

What we see is that the resolution and image-quality settings ensure the tests are largely GPU-bound with respect to performance. The Area-51 7500 benchmarks to the same level as SCAN's AM2 FX-62 SKU, and both feature stock-clocked GeForce 7950 GX2s so the overall results aren't surprising.

The MESH PC, on the other hand, is specified with twin GeForce 7900 GTX 512MiB cards, and you can see the extra performance they afford. Had the Area-51 been equipped with the same cards, the performance, we bet, would have been near-identical to the MESH's.

The Vadim Fusion's heavily overclocked CPU, memory and, tellingly, GX2 pushes its performance to SLI'd GTX levels.
