Moving on to gaming and the Achilles Heel of the X100HA is revealed. The ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 sounds like a desktop X1300-beater on paper, yet a regular-clocked Pro is considerably faster and a Mobility Radeon X1600 256MiB faster still. Raising the resolution to an LCD-friendly 1280x1024 reduces playability and average framerates to 19.3FPS.

We haven't included the Q4 results for the ASUS laptop due to not running it in our benchmarking suite at that time. However, we can surmise that it would be faster than a desktop Radeon X1300 Pro and around twice the speed of the MR X1400 128MiB in the X100HA. Again, raising the resolution to 1280x1024 but not adding in any further image enhancement, pushes average framerates down to a sticky 24.2FPS.

An ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 256MiB is around twice the speed in 3DMark05. If we had one recommendation to Shuttle it would be add that mobile part to the X100HA. It would then, we believe, provide enough grunt for fluid gaming at 1280x1024.

As it stands, the MR X1400's architecture and relatively low clock speeds flatter to deceive.
