Benchmarks II

Now lets look at the gaming side of things.. How will the integrated MX cope with high end games.

First up is 3DMark 2001SE.

Once again the trend continues, DDR266 has amazed me with its ability to put some daylight between itself and DDR333 modes except with the blip using onboard graphics everything else is pointing to a real advantage.

On to the most widely used bench of them all. Quake 3. We are using patch v1.30, and to make it more of a comparison we will run this bench with fastest and high quality settings. This is the Four.dm_66 demo.

Well this is looking promising for the onboard MX not alot between it and the other graphics used.

Its a different story here though the onboard showing it hasnt got the power to keep up with stand alone solutions. But DDR266 continues its domination.

On to Serious Sam 2. We're benchmarking the publicly available Valley of the Jaguar Time demo, one that is heavily reliant on subsystem speed, at 1024x768x32 Normal preferences.

This bench relies on both subsystem speed and graphics power and we see again that the onboard is just not enough to run this at a playable speed. DDR333 also make itself known by finally overtaking the "slower" standard.

Next up is Comanche 4 from Novalogic.

Well its no surprise here, it shows again that using the onboard solution DDR333 can give the extra bandwidth needed by some newer games. It doesnt mean you can expect to play top games but just they are slightly less painful.

Finally let’s have a look at how these systems coped with Code Creatures benchmark. This test runs thru 3 different resolutions 1600x1200, 1280x1024, and 1024x768 then gives you a final score.

the MX440 and Onboarc could not keep up with the Radeon in this test. It must be made known I havent run these with anything greater than a Ti4600 before.

Well I think thats enough for now!!

Let's wrap it up. On to the conclusion.
