Add-in card performance

Gaming

Discrete graphics card performance will inevitably vary with the card in the slot, and you can install a single-slot PCIe card of your choice. That brings compatibility right up to a GeForce 7800 GTX. The SD11G5 uses an Intel i915GM northbridge with integrated Intel GMA 900 graphics. We compared its performance to other IGP's, including NVIDIA's GeForce 6150 and Intel's own, revised GMA 950. A discrete GeForce 6200 TurboCache 32MB (64-bit, 128MB shared memory) was thrown in for good measure.

Performance at 1024x768, as you can see, is nothing to write home about. In view of this, any reader even semi-interested in gaming would be best-advised to invest in a discrete graphics card.
