CPU-centric tests

Right-o, we have a rootin', tootin' Intel Core i7 980X hexa-core champ in one corner. The big bruiser is clocked in at stock speeds within the HEXUS system. Facing off is the vastly cheaper Core i5 2500K, hailing from the Sandy Bridge gym, and pumped up to an impressive 4.7GHz.

What do you know; the four-threaded 2500K is able to push the Scan system to a Geekbench metric that's higher than the 12-thread 980X.

And while threads make all the difference in multi-core-aware CINEBENCH, the 4.7GHz-clocked 2500K is no mean performer.

Hanging on to the coattails of a 980X chip that currently retails for more than half the entire GTK 560 Ti build, we have no issues with CPU-centric performance.
