Benchmarks: CPU
Our three chosen CPU benchmarks for high-end base units are interesting insofar as they shed some light on three important scenarios. PiFast represents light or single-thread workloads, HandBrake is a common example of multi-threaded apps that don't scale as well as hoped, and Cinebench illustrates what happens when all available cores are properly utilised.
Intel's IPC advantage and typical overclockability sees Core i7 and Core i9 rigs continue to top the charts in PiFast, but put all 16 cores and 32 threads through the wringer and Ryzen 9 3950X sets new standards for a non-HEDT platform. The 4,360 Cinebench score eclipses anything we've managed on an Intel base unit.
