Benchmarks: Storage
Here's an interesting point of discussion. With the goal of keeping costs down, Scan employs a 2.5in Seagate BarraCuda SSD hooked-up via a SATA 6Gbps interface. Sequential read and write speeds of 565MB/s and 536MB/s, respectively, are as advertised, but spending a little more money would open the door to much faster M.2 NVMe solutions.
It's easy to see the allure of those faster drives - speeds in excess of 2,000MB/s just sound tantalising - but, putting our sensible hat back on, a 2.5in SATA SSD is a fine choice for most.
