We've no qualms with SSD performance, either. Sequential read and write speeds from the 512GB Samsung PM981 M.2 drive are excellent, and we like the fact that the drive is lined with a thermal pad that helps transfer heat to the metal side panel. Though, bringing up price again, a 512GB system drive does feel miserly at £2,699.
