Benchmarks: CPU
Multiple new arrivals in the CPU marketplace have given us plenty of food for thought. There are obvious candidates if your budget knows no bounds, yet in the mid-range segment, the Core i5-8600K ticks a lot of the right boxes for a sub-£300 chip. IPC throughput is excellent, particularly with Scan's 4.8GHz overclock, and though there's no hyper-threading, half-a-dozen physical cores ensure high performance in the multi-threaded tests.
Today's Core i5-8600K is a step up from yesterday's Core i7-7700K.
