Benchmarks: Gaming
The GR8 II obviously isn't a match for bigger and pricier PC towers, yet the mid-range Nvidia GPU delivers solid games-playing potential. Given that an overclocked GTX 1060 3GB returned 10,785 in 3DMark Fire Strike using our high-end test bed, a score of 10,247 is right in line with our expectations of a stock-clocked card.
We've run all the other relevant Futuremark tests and the ROG GR8 II scores well in the two benchmarks that matter. Firstly, a 99.5 per cent pass rate in the Time Spy Stress Test reveals excellent consistency, and secondly a score of 6,288 in VRMark Orange Room comfortable surpasses the 5,000 points deemed necessary for VR headsets such as the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
What does the Kaby Lake and GTX 1060 3GB combination mean in terms of real-world games? Well, there's more than enough power to drive modern games at an ubiquitous full-HD resolution with high quality settings. Maintaining in excess of 60 frames per second isn't difficult, though gameplay isn't quite as smooth when you step-up to a QHD resolution. 4K UHD, meanwhile, is outside the remit of this particular hardware configuration.
