A quad-core Intel processor doesn't have to come at the expense of energy efficiency. The TS-453 Pro's Celeron J1900 carries a 10W TDP and is able to keep power consumption down to a reasonable level. Qnap allows for the drives to spin down after a user-defined period of inactivity, at which point power-draw drops to 20 watts.
