Performance: IOZone
We'll start with IOZone results. We took file sizes up to 1GB rather than our previous limit of 128MB, to make sure we hit the sustainable data rate of the media. Read tests first:
Just as we hit 1GB the data rates drop down to around 80MB/s.
The trace over the PCIe interface is essentially the same, following the same contours, filesystem performance seemingly unaffected by the additional bandwidth provided.
Again, little difference between PCIe and PCIc, although RAID-1 read speeds of 1GB files is about 25MB/s slower than with RAID-1.
Writes, then.
The plane representing disk array performance is more visible in our write tests. It's around 70MB/s in RAID-0.
Again, little distinguishable difference over PCIe.
RAID-1 takes writes down to about 40MB/s.
All results are consistent and about what we'd expect. Let's see if our filesystem testing results match up with our raw disk benchmarks...
