Benchmarks: Iometer and File Copy
We have a few interesting comparisons in our line-up. Right from the off, we can see that Buffalo's promise of improved performance holds true; the LinkStation 421DE is comfortably faster than the previous-generation, single-drive LinkStation Pro.
In our Iometer benchmarks, 64KB sequential read performance is very good, and though write performance could be better, the LinkStation manages to nudge ahead of an Asustor AS-602T that costs more than twice as much at retail.
The 421DE also manages to complete our File Copy Test - which entails transferring 8.83GB of mixed-sized files to the NAS - in a respectable 144.68 seconds, averaging 61.03MB/s.
