Review: Samsung SSD 840 Series (250GB)

Our custom Iometer test bombards each drive with a random spread of 4K reads and writes, and though it bears little resemblance to real-world use, it can demonstrate a drive's ability to cope in a worst-case scenario. Here, the Samsung doesn't perform as well as expected, and we'd put our money on the relatively anaemic write performance as the culprit for sub-standard numbers.
