Our customised Iometer test bombards the drives with a random spread of 4KB transfers (50 per cent read, 50 per cent write) at a high queue depth of 32. This intense workload isn't representative of real-world usage (at least not for the average home user), but it shows how the drives cope under extreme scenarios and, in this case, the SandForce-powered drives are a different class.
