Benchmark: Iometer
Both Vertex 4 drives have passed every examination thus far with flying colours, but the intensive Iometer benchmark is usually where non-SandForce drives fall short.
But not this time. Our Iometer test bombards the drives with a random spread of 4KB transfers (50 per cent read, 50 per cent write) at a high queue depth of 32. This demanding scenario is enough to make some drives struggle - the Crucial m4 being an example - but OCZ's Vertex 4 continues to fly high. The 256GB and 512GB models are among the fastest drives on show.
