CrystalDiskMark paints a different picture. This benchmark uses incompressible data - which we know isn't the SF-2281 controller's preferred choice - and the results are average.

There's no doubt the cache is coming into play - the results are at least a 50x improvement over the Samsung hard disk alone - but the limited capacity restricts overall performance.
