SSD comparisons - part two
Iometer
Iometer confirms CrystalDiskMark's findings. Stress the SSDNow V+100 with an onslaught of random read and writes at a high queue depth of 32 and the drive can't match the performance on offer from premium SSDs.
The lacklustre random I/O performance might rule out server or database use, but these demanding workloads aren't representative of the everyday home user.
PCMark Vantage
PCMark's simulated real-world workloads tell a different story. When it comes to general everyday usage - booting up Windows, launching multiple applications and gaming - Kingston's SSDNow V+100 is quick, and only fractionally slower than some of the pricier options on the market.
It's far from being the quickest SSD available, of course, but it offers strong single-user performance at a very competitive price.
