Drives in this pricing spectrum need to be maxing out the Sata interface. Toshiba's aim is to hit 500MB/s+ on both read and writes, which the 480GB drive does easily enough. This means you should be able to transfer a 10GB file, between drives, in around 20 seconds.
The 4K random reads and writes look at the other end of the spectrum, focusing on when you are moving lots of small files around. The TR200's speed is reasonable, though we would like to see it inch up in the write tests. As a point of comparison, a mechanical drive is over 50x slower - and it's those people, still rocking a spinning boot disk, whom Toshiba is targeting.
