The Qnap TS-231P and Synology DS216play are positioned as direct competitors, and in terms of average sequential throughput it's the Qnap that has the slight edge. Both are closely matched, mind, and though they each hold their own in the sequential tests, the limits of the underlying ARM processors are identified in the demanding 4K Q32 tests, where pricier Intel-based units lead the way.
