The case for faster memory is routinely made when benchmarking at lower resolutions. The GTX 1080 card is no slouch yet the benchmarks show there is every reason to go for 2,666MHz, and faster, for a performance build. This is especially true if you are after the highest frame rate possible - useful for fast-paced games run on a high-refresh monitor.
As we have mentioned numerous times before, the benefits of faster memory disappear at a QHD resolution. But hey, if the RAM doesn't cost more, why not go for the fastest supported speeds, right?
