Testing

Well the testing process for these controllers is an extremely complex and requires a lot of hard work and perseverance by yours truly. I decided the best way to fully evaluate the controllers was basically to play as many games as possible with them. I have chosen a range of games that should allow for a good all round view on the performance of each of our competitors to the crown of ultimate game controller.

The games I used to test them are as follows
Splinter Cell (Demo)
Hitman 2
Day Of Defeat (Half-Life based multiplayer only mod)
Medieval Total War
IL2-Sturmovik
Crimson Skies
Mafia
GTA3
I have also briefly dabbled with the following games
Medal Of Honour
Unreal Tournament (Original and 2003)
Quake 3
Battlefield 1942
Jedi Knight 2
Close Combat (2,3,4 and 5)

As you can see from the above lists of games the majority are first or third person shooters as these are the main territory that the controllers are aimed at. Into this mix I have also thrown a couple of flight simulators (one complex and one arcade based), a few strategy games and a couple of games which contain sections featuring vehicles such as cars and tanks. I kept a notepad at hand to jot down any thoughts I had whilst using them which may be why some of my points seem pretty petty and unimportant, but I feel those little things can add up so I’ve included most of them.
