Wireless Performance
Routers are often constrained by the limitations of receiving hardware. Employing a Nighthawk AC1900 adapter has loosened the shackles and the XR500 is able to stretch its legs with speeds of almost 600Mbps at Location 1, the room directly above the router.
At Location B - across the ground floor at a distance of roughly 45ft - the shorter range of the 5GHz band becomes apparent, yet no bother, the XR500 and AC1900 combination delivers solid results at 2.4GHz.
Wireless performance is more than capable, but the graphs alone don't paint an accurate picture. The real-world speeds obtained on the 5GHz band are well below the 1,300Mbps theoretical limit, and as if often the case with wireless transmission, consistency isn't a strong point. Our graphs depict the average throughput from multiple runs, but digging into the results reveals a variance of as much as 100Mbps in some cases.
