Brightness, Blacks and Contrast
That is impressive. iiyama quotes a maximum brightness of just 400 cd/m² - our equipment sees it in an even better light.
In real-world use, having it set to 50 per cent feels bright enough, 75 per cent somewhat piercing for everyday work, and 100 per cent lovely and bright for rooms with a decent amount of ambient lighting.
You'd think that bodes well for HDR reproduction. The truth is that on games that support it well, one needs a 1,000 cd/m² brightness - similar to the better LCD TVs - for it to work well. We still wouldn't be buying this display for its HDR credentials.
And part of that reasoning rests with the black levels that aren't the best. Bright displays only work well when the black levels are lovely and inky, which is not the case here.
Contrast ratio is middling.
