As per the specification of the nForce4 Ultra chipset, the KN1 Extreme is a feature-rich beast indeed. Three ATA ports, 6 Serial ATA ports, dual network adapters, ten USB 2.0 ports - I defy anyone to exhaust the connectivity on this motherboard. The vast majority of this functionality is delivered from the CK8-04 Ultra chipset itself, but ECS have piled on the added ATA and Serial ATA connectivity with the addition of an SiS 180 chip, bringing the number of SATA ports up from four to six (Although bear in mind that these use the SATA-150 specification rather than the SATA-300 version found on the nForce4 itself), and ATA channels from two to three, all of which are RAID capable in 0, 1 and 0+1 configurations.
Audio and network adapters are both provided courtesy of Realtek, via the ALC655 for sound and the RTL8110S controller for Gigabit ethernet, with the RTL8201BL chip providing 10/100Mbit abilities to round out the comprehensive package.
