Packaging and goodies

Normally it's hard to get excited about a retail box but abit has gone to town for the IN9 32X-MAX.

First, it's absolutely massive, promising an ample bounty of extras - though resellers of all kinds will be concerned about storage and carriage problems.

Far more important, though, is the awesome cybernetic dragon flying across the front of the box. Cyborgs alone are too passé - abit has clearly moved the whole game forward.

[advert]abit has included everything you're likely to need with the IN9 32X-MAX, even an optical audio cable - something that's usually not provided.

Unlike ASUS's solution on boards such as the P5K Deluxe, which sees WiFi support implemented by fitting a USB wireless adaptor directly to a header on the motherboard, abit provide their wireless support in the form of a PCIe card.

This works well, with low CPU utilisation and reasonable performance, and also has the ability to act as Wireless Access Point using the Soft-AP mode.

Summary

abit have included everything you would expect to find with a high-end board, and a few things which you wouldn't. Only the lack of a fan for the northbridge, for use in low airflow conditions such as water-cooling, stands out as an omission. Instead just a bracket is supplied.
