Bundle and presentation

First impressions are favourable. EPoX packages the 9NDA3+ in an oversized box that adds style points by incorporating a carrying handle. EPoX is attempting to convey a blanket features and performance package with its Macrocosm moniker.

The first section of this two-part bundle comprises of what EPoX terms PowerPack. To you and me, that's a set of MOSFET heatsinks and a fancy screwdriver that has a Philips-type bit on one end and flathead on the other. A couple of purple-coloured rounded ATA cables match the colour scheme employed on the 9NDA3+. It seems a shame, then, that the floppy cable is of the standard grey type. EPoX's driver CD has a handy GUI that allows for one-touch automated installation of required drivers. Certainly better than trawling through the list and deciding which are needed. The main reference manual is above average. It explains the board's features and attributes in plain English, which is more than can be said for most.

Brackets and cables make up the other half of this bundle. A couple of FireWire400 ports are accessible via the left-hand bracket, and a further 2 USB 2.0 ports from the flylead on the right. That still leaves 2 out of 8 unaccounted for, which are presumably taken up by cases with in-built ports. This bundle is functional more than exciting. Something like a 54g Wi-Fi dongle or bundled card reader would be nice.
