CPU performance is consistent between both the Z170 motherboards we tested with both vendors opting to synchronise all cores to the maximum turbo frequency of 4.2GHz even under full multi-core load. The generational improvement over the Z97 varies between workloads, though HandBrake fares particularly well while PiFast hardly changes.
