AMD's Athlon 64 3400+, an ATI Radeon 9800 XT, and a decent board now push out around 21,000 marks at absolute default. You can buy this kind of performance for less than £1,000. Technology, eh. A breakdown of the ABIT's score can be found over here. We'd like to see what, say, a KV8 Pro at 250MHz driven clock (8x multiplier) would manage. We need locked buses first, though.
Another hallmark of the Athlon 64 range is lack of general results deviation from one board to another. That's thanks to, in the main, onboard memory controller(s).
Our UT test takes place in an indoor arena and follows a number of bots around. That's heavy subsystem load, and ABIT's board does pretty well.
