Exploring memory bandwidth and latency first. The P4R800-V Deluxe, a dual-channel motherboard, looks poor in comparison to a well-tuned Canterwood, which is ASUS' class-leading P4C800-E Deluxe. We can already presume that the P4R800-V Deluxe won't benchmark as well.
Another nail in the performance coffin is highlighted by ScienceMark 2.0's memory latency analysis. The board has less usable bandwidth and higher memory latency than its S478 counterpart. AMD's Athlon 64 Model 3400+ shows how it should be done.
ScienceMark 2.0s' finding are corroborated by Pifast. The benchmark takes another 4.5s to compute the constant to 10m places. If you're an enthusiast looking to extract maximum performance the gap will bother you. For most people, though, it's neither here nor there. The P4R800-V has other qualities that mask meagre performance.
A little slower in crunching WAV files into 192kbit/s MP3 format. Nothing to write home about, however.
