3D System Tests II

X2: The Threat now. A decent DX9.0 based test, we run it at 800x600 to make it more system biased. It picks up differences in L2 cache performance and memory latency.

X2 result

The exact opposite of what we saw with UT2003, the K8V takes the Athlon 64 win this time. The 9 x 223 result shows a small increase over 10 x 200 and the P4 is left trailing in their wake. It's a gamers CPU for sure, both compatible boards show a good turn of speed.

Serious Sam 2 is up next. We use the OpenGL renderer and Quality settings here.

SS2 result

Like the Pifast result right at the beginning, a slight lead for the Biostar board at stock CPU clocks and the same memory timings. 9 x 223 is a win, as expected.

The last benchmark now, Comanche 4.

Comanche 4 result

No real difference between each K8T800 setup, parity with the Pentium 4 too. Always nice to see bunched up results like that, makes for interesting and insightful commentary.

A little bit on overclocking and then a conclusion to wrap things up.
