Benchmarks IV
UT2003 Demo continues the ever-so-close battle between the two heavyweight contenders from the Springdale and Canterwood corners. It's not surprising to see such close results after what's gone before.
X2: The Threat shows itself to be quite sensitive to changes in CPU speed. The top two have consistently managed to take a healthy lead over a premier nForce2 / XP3200+ combination.
The Quake III drag race is won by the MAX3, although winning by 1.3FPS when the lower benchmark stands at 417.9FPS is a hollow and meaningless victory. We mentioned that the MAX3 was the fastest stock Canterwood ever seen at HEXUS. The DFI i865PE INFINITY becomes one of the very fastest Springdales we've covered in recent months. When i865PE boards pop up with Canterwood-like performance, one questions the need to lay out extra cash for the supposedly 'better' chipset.
