Graphics Benchmarks - I

Let's start with 3DMark 2001SE, the fans favourite. 1024x768 at 32-bit colour depth is the test resolution and all advanced driver rendering options are off to take the card out of the equation. Can the Leadtek beat the ASUS or the Intel system?

The Leadtek has instant performance parity with the ASUS, despite the graph indicating a 'win'. If you can tell 15855 marks from 15837, you're lying. We'd expect nothing less from 2 boards using the same processor, same memory at the same settings and the same graphics card with the same driver. It's the same.

Let's try another.

Comanche 4, slightly more subsystem limited on Radeon 9700 Pro, but we don't see anything different. Nearly identical performance to the ASUS, just a microscopic loss in the final score. Neither system is able to keep up with the Canterwood's bandwidth and megahertz monster, the P4 whips the AMD kit.

Another one for good measure.

Quake 3 should really be in the same category as the 'system' benchmarks at these settings. Radeon 9700 Pro makes light work of this, and the XP3200+ and dual channel DDR400 squirt the data to it as fast as they can. Any surprises in performance? Nope. Leadtek as fast as ASUS, both slower than the P4 I/O monster.

Let's take a look at the rest of our 3D tests.
