Graphical Benchmarks - II

Graphical Benchmarks - II

A fat bandwidth test now, Quake3. This takes CPU and memory controller performance into account, a lot more so than graphics card performance. This should really highlight, if any, the difference between the boards and especially between the competing chipsets.

Ignoring the scale, which makes things more dramatic, there's only a 10 frames per second difference between first and last. Indicative of competitive KT400A performance? It appears so, these boards are closer than I'd initially thought they'd get and that's no bad thing. Ah, the DFI 'wins' too.

Our last graphical test is system limited too with 9700 Pro, so we should see much the same thing here too.

A win for the Jetway for the KT400A chasing pack, nForce2 at the very front and not much performance variance over the whole lot at all. The MSI seems to doze off slightly, maybe it's been reading this review from the start, we'll let it off if that's the case.

So, at the half way benchmark mark, what can we say about performance. Well, somewhat surprisingly for me at least, there isn't a gaping Grand Canyon style chasm between KT400A and nForce2. VIA seem to get things right, good show.
