Benchmarks I

Please remember that although the AMD nForce2 boards are running the XP3200 at the same basic speed and FSB, the memory timings used on the Shuttle were inferior to the EPoX's. Without further a do, let's delve into the benchmarks.

The double pumped nature of the Athlon's FSB inevitably leads to a lower score than the quad pumped Pentium 4. SANDRA doesn't think too much of the higher latencies used in the Shuttle. How about Pifast ?.

Higher latencies ensure that the Shuttle trails the EPoX by around 1.7s. We'd guesstimate that it would be extremely close to the EPoX's time if it could run at the same timings. AMD always do well here.

Now to some WAV file crunching. 192kb/s MP3s are what we are after.

Horses for courses, I guess.

And now to our Hexus SETI benchmark. A 0.417 work unit takes over 2 hours to complete, even on today's fast machines.

Just what we'd expect.
