Benchmarks II
Ok, here's one I like to judge overall system performance with PcMark 2002.
It's another close one but again the Intel takes it. Let's move on to some gaming benches. All game benches are done at a resolution of 1024/768 unless otherwise specified.
First up is 3DMark 2001SE.
Once again the trend continues, and the Intel takes it. But there's a reversal in fortunes for the Shuttle using onboard graphics. Could this be the first blowing of the winds of change? We'll see as we look at some more benches.
On to the most widely used bench of them all. Quake 3. We are using patch v1.30, and to make it more of a comparison we will run this bench with fastest and high quality settings. This is the Four.dm_66 demo.
Well this is looking promising for the Intel although the onboard are taking another knock.
Not a surprise that using the GF4 the Intel board scoops yet another point, but just look at the onboard scores... Not exactly earth shattering, but the Shuttle has more than doubled the frame rate of the Intel, it’s nearly playable (if you can stand the low resolution).
On to Serious Sam 2. We're benchmarking the publicly available Valley of the Jaguar Time demo, one that is heavily reliant on subsystem speed, at 1024x768x32 Normal preferences.
It's a continuation of the Intel show here with a clear margin with the GF4, the Shuttle handily beats the onboard graphics.
Next up is Comanche 4 from Novalogic.
Here again the Intel offering is king, 2 fps clear of the Shuttle. For the first time I couldn’t even get it to run using either version of the onboard graphics.
Finally let’s have a look at how these systems coped with Code Creatures benchmark. This test runs thru 3 different resolutions 1600x1200, 1280x1024, and 1024x768 then gives you a final score.
Another test the onboard graphics couldn't run. But another victory for the Intel using the GF4.
Enough?
